He popped the question and now you’re engaged! So what’s next?
Having an engagement photo session can be a great way to kick off this special time in your lives and have some fun together! It can also be a perfect opportunity for you and your photographer to get to know each other a little more before the big day. So whether you’re planning to use them for your save-the-dates or just want some pretty pictures to hang in your house, here are a few tips to help you rock your engagement photos!
There are many factors to consider when choosing your photo shoot location. Some believe it is best to choose one location in order to eliminate traveling, while others want to visit all of their favorite spots. Sometimes it is helpful to first think about the feel you want and then think through locations, keeping in mind what you’ll want to do while you’re there. Pictures on the beach? Maybe throw on your favorite summer frock and leave the heels at home. It’s also a good idea to have a rain backup plan in mind just in case!
One of the most important aspects of your photoshoot is that you and your fiancé feel comfortable in front of the camera. We recommend wearing something you love yourself in! Don't wear something that isn't you, and don't make your fiancé wear something that isn't him/her.
These images are about showing the love you and your fiancé have for each other, so make sure that shows through in your pictures. You don’t have to be matchy-matchy, but make sure your outfits look good together. Whether you're dressing up or dressing down, try to both stick with the designated dress code.
When all else fails, a timeless dress paired with a gorgeous statement necklace will never let you down!
We love any excuse to have our hair and makeup done! So why not schedule a little time before your engagement session to make sure you’re totally camera ready! We want you feeling confident and looking flawless in your photos. This can also be a great opportunity for a trial run of your wedding day hair and makeup.
Props are a wonderful way for you and your fiancé to personalize the shoot and can be a fun way to provide some personal insight into a relationship. Whether it’s a handmade banner with your wedding date, a family heirloom or just a large colorful balloon, adding a prop or two can be just what your engagement shoot needed to bring everything together. Be creative and have fun with it!
